Correctional Family Wellness: For Staff™

Welcome to the course Correctional Family Wellness: For Staff™! This course is about needs of corrections staff’s families, especially in relation to how working in corrections can affect family life and what can be done to counter possible negative repercussions in order to bring about positive outcomes.  Please watch the video below to begin.

The course material is proprietary and copyrighted, authored by Caterina Spinaris, PhD, Desert Waters’ founding director, with feedback from her Desert Waters’ colleagues as well. The course content is based on what she has learned about correctional families by listening to and training thousands of correctional staff and their family members since the year 2000 nationwide and internationally. It is also based on her clinical experience of offering professional counseling to correctional staff and/or their family members in the United States for close to 15 years. 

The course also presents comments made by correctional staff and family members, which are included with permission. These comments help illustrate what is taught in this course, driving a point home, and making the course uniquely specific to our concerns about our family life by addressing what many of us may be experiencing at work and at home.
